My current Hunter Rank (HR) is 5, and I’ve made it to the Zorah Magdaros capture operation!
It’s been a long time since I last played Monster Hunter: World, and after such a long break, my player skills have significantly dropped, and I’m having quite a hard time.
I often find myself instinctively pressing the controls to use the Wirebug from Sunbreak, or when wielding the sword and shield, I try to use the “Extreme Style” from Frontier, only to get hit.
It feels like it’s going to take me at least a week to get fully used to World’s controls again.
That said, I’m not progressing efficiently, but I’ve finally decided to take on the Zorah Magdaros capture operation!
Surprisingly, it’s quite fun carrying and firing the cannons after a long time. Though I imagine it would get tedious quickly if I had to do it repeatedly in successive battles!
I ended up wandering around for nearly 10 minutes trying to find the heat vents. In the end, it turned out that I had to wait for the posture to change to reach the location. What a twist!
And then, along comes Nergigante.
If I remember correctly, Elder Dragons sense their approaching death and head to the Elder’s Recess. Nergigante is a monster that preys on Elder Dragons, so it probably attacked the weakened Zorah Magdaros to eat it… at least that’s the lore, but I’m not entirely sure.
It must have been really hungry, Nergigante.
Fortunately, a random hunter joined me halfway through, and thanks to their help, I was able to successfully clear the quest. A big thank you to the hunter who helped out!
I was honestly surprised that despite the game being out for so long, I could still match up with someone using an SOS flare for a low-rank quest. Maybe there are more hunters replaying World like me than I expected.
By the way, about this whole “capture operation” thing—weren’t Elder Dragons and super-large monsters not capturable? Is it just impossible for a group of hunters to do it, or is there another reason? I wonder if the official lore explains this somewhere. I might look into it tomorrow.
Now, as for my goal of completing all the medals, my current progress is 22% for Survey 1 and 2% for Survey 2. Still a long way to go!
See you in the next post!
